【The Standard】Box Hill (HK) International Kindergarten & Pre-school is taking its students on a journey around the world- without ever leaving the school. As part of their theme-based curriculum, International Weeks introduces the children to different cultures through engaging activities, allowing them to explore a new destination each week.
One of the standout experiences during International Weeks is cultural food tasting, giving children a chance to explore global flavours. At the Ma On Shan campus, children ‘visited’ Sweden and sampled traditional Swedish meatballs, while at the Fo Tan campus, children travelled to Greece and enjoyed creamy Greek yogurt. At the Tseung Kwan O campus, children experienced England and enjoyed maypole dancing, embracing the fun and tradition of this classic English activity. These are just a few examples of the many experiences across Box Hill’s campuses, where children have the opportunity to try and appreciate a variety of international cultural traditions.
Box Hill also encourages home-school collaboration by inviting parents to participate as volunteers, enriching the learning experience. Parents’ involvement creates a collaborative and exciting atmosphere, enhancing the children’s cultural exploration and fostering a stronger connection between home and school.
Box Hill’s International Weeks reflect the school’s commitment to fostering global citizens who are curious, open-minded, and culturally aware. By immersing children in different traditions, cuisines, and customs, the theme encourages an early understanding of the world’s rich diversity.
